About Preserve Historic Sutter Creek
Preserve Historic Sutter Creek is a group of concerned local citizens who have volunteered countless hours of our time to study the details
of the proposed Gold Rush Ranch housing development. Over the past several years we have attended numerous meetings of the Planning
Commission and the City Council and have repeatedly spoken out with facts and figures showing why this development will
lead to a deterioration of the quality of life that we all enjoy.
Despite the opposition and the sound factual arguments against this development, the City Council granted approval on January 4th, 2010. They did this in spite of the grave reservations that the council members themselves expressed. The developers even stated that the development was becoming economically infeasible.
Consequently, Preserve Historic Sutter Creek decided to take action because we feel our elected officials are not representing the will of the people. To allow the citizens of Sutter Creek the opportunity to speak for themselves, we launched a referendum campaign. Over the course of three rainy weekends in January, volunteers collected 468 signatures on a petition to put the Gold Rush Ranch approval to a vote of the people.
This is a form of direct democracy; please join us in voting NO on Gold Rush!
